«I highly recommend doing an internship at the Irish Boat Shop. I went there and thought I wanted to work in education and training and found that I liked to recruit even more. The company has a strong mission, employees work with a team mentality and want to help you. My mentor was always ready to teach to make sure I could learn and manage the tasks assigned to me. The structure of the internship helped me grow as a professional and allowed me to make a significant contribution to the company. – Anna Finley, Lake Superior State University `19 «I will recommend the IBS internship to as many people as possible. It was an incredible experience, and I think everyone who participates in it in the future will realize how unique and honorable it is to be a part of it. I come out of it and I know everything I thought I was learning, and much more. I don`t think I could have been better prepared for this internship based on my first year as a seasonal worker at Irish Boat Shop and my school studies.
I learned to operate without title, to keep the store running smoothly while searching for relevant data, and to track and create important processes necessary for day-to-day operations. My mentor has been working with me since the beginning to make this internship work. When we faced challenges, he not only met them, but also showed me the most effective and efficient way to meet them. I am a better leader overall because of his experience and learning. Devon Hope, Grand Valley `23 «When I applied to Irish Boat Shop, I had no idea how much I would grow and learn from the internship. I had excellent instructors who gave me the advice I needed to progress and advance in my profession. I`ve had wonderful mentors, and they`ve taught me a lot about how a videographer works in a business environment while working with a dedicated and passionate team. I am really grateful for the experience irish Boat Shop has provided me and I couldn`t recommend this course enough to others. Jack Myers, Michigan State University `23 applications are invited to Boat Company for a summer internship in marketing. Students available for 6 months full-time can apply for this internship «When my summer plans collapsed, Irish Boat Shop was there to help me and I couldn`t be more grateful for that. I had a great summer here, it was a unique opportunity to be here that I know I won`t be coming back. I enjoyed helping in several areas of the company. Spending a day helping with the service, working with Angela to find out how Irish will organise certain events and discussing with Michael his goals for the company were the most formative experiences of the internship. Phoebe Solms, Princeton University `21 «The best thing about this internship was the amount of knowledge I gained. I had the opportunity to explore a number of areas that interested me. One moment I was able to do SOME SEO research for the ecommerce site, and the next day I was at the shipyard looking at a technician waiting for boats.
It was particularly interesting to see how people who took such different career paths came together to shoot all the roles – and it was clear that they were all doing it with passion. The confidence I was given to work alone worked wonders for my confidence and contributed to the great overall experience. Matt Sloyan, University of Wisconsin — Madison `21 «It was super interesting to work for a full-service boat store, and I learned a lot about boats and how to run a successful business. I never realized how complex every service order, boat commission or temporary dock is. It often takes many departments to work together to get the job done. It was a bit more cleaning and retail store staff than I expected, but the projects and internal tasks I was assigned were exactly what I expected.
